My Art Teacher Was The Most Talented Artist Essay

In early June of 2006, I graduated high school in the small, conservative town of Portland, Michigan. Before that, however, I successfully survived four years of being an awkward, confused, geeky teenager who spent far more time on the theater stage than on homework or studying. One of the only classes that could keep my attention longer than a few minutes was Art. My Art teacher was the most talented artist I had met, despite being entirely colorblind. One day, we were learning how to paint sailboats with watercolor paints and, being colorblind, he mistook the green for beige, he accidentally painted the glorious sails of the pirate ship green. Once the chuckles subsided and he realized what he’d done, he explained that the sales had been wet, improperly stored, and begun to mold. He used this lesson to teach us that it’s okay to make mistakes, that even mistakes can be beautiful, and doing things differently doesn’t mean you’re wrong. I have kept this sentiment close to my heart ever since and taught it to those who may doubt themselves. I learned that one person’s perspective is not the same as everyone else’s and everyone’s opinion is valid. I think that this message is what helped me get to where I am tod ay because had I not taken that message to heart, I may not have applied my artistic abilities in my zoology classes, which helped me excel. To this day, I still try to think outside the box and allow myself to have free-thought. A Rose for Emily by William Faulkner - 523 Words

My overall impression of A Rose for Emily is that the story was very eccentric and kind of heart-breaking. The story was eccentric to me because I did not expect that out of Miss Emily. I knew she was weird from the beginning because she hid her father’s corpse for three days. What person in their right mind would do that? Definitely not I and I do not think a lot of people would either unless you have a mental disability. Emily held onto what she admired the most and looked up to. Emily looked up to her father, who sheltered her and held her hostage his whole life. He believed no one was good enough for his daughter and did not want anyone to take his daughter away from him. This is where the story becomes heart-breaking for me. Miss Emily could have had a lot of potential and her father took it all away from her. He sheltered her for his own sake and Emily did not know any better. Emily believed everything he told her since she was not allowed outside the house and did not k now the basics of reality. When her father passed away, Emily stayed to herself for awhile and then she met Homer Barron. Homer was a Yankee and the foreman of the construction company. Everyone liked Homer in Jefferson including Miss Emily. When Homer left to go back up North, Miss Emily felt abandoned again. First she was abandoned by her father and now by her love, Homer. She felt she had to do something, so she got arsenic poison which is very harmful and she kills Homer. Australian Graduate Labour Market

Question: Discuss about the Australian Graduate Labour Market. Answer: Introduction In life, we are made to believe that the most conventional and best route to a successful career and most high paid jobs starts with university education. Academic inflation is fast rising and having a degree means far less nowadays, and most companies and organization are taking note of that (Watson, 2005).Many companies have put in policies that will focus less on decorated degree certificates but rather focus on hands-on experience. Education is not worthless, but the primary concern is the real world is not minded by the academic community (Connell Burgess, 2006). Having a degree with you does not indeed hurt, you do not need a degree certificate to earn a decent salary. Examining the Job Market As we search for jobs in the market there are a number of factors that affect the choice of career. In the job market there are many careers that provide numerous job opportunities in the next five years. Below is a list of careers that have been seen to provide more opportunities to people. Various factors make careers such as technology, medical field, education and financial services are on the increasing ladder. Other careers such as business services, technical jobs and sales field provide a significant decrease. Other jobs like engineering, consulting and middle management are in a decreasing phase as there is a lot occurring in innovation side so the job opportunities are decreasing. Factors such as technological changes and demographics are mainly responsible for changes in the career choices among the young people. A medical calling which is evergreen the vocation openings are expanding in this field since the populace is developing, and the requirement for medical help is growing which this way makes a massive interest for the medical calling, and it is a much first calling (Connell Burgess 2006). The following most profession segment for giving several open doors is offered by the innovation division, where the product improvement assumes a vital part and the open doors for vacation are gigantic when the change is changing, and there is an extraordinary decrease in the vocations because of particular political conservative and different elements. The following vocation benefit that is thought to be a conspicuous administration for experts and with developing open doors is the budgetary administration's segment. The financial management division is the evergreen area as the required by every one of the associations which are either business or non-business. Next vocation is Educational field where it is an evergreen region where work thrive in a persistent stream the theoretical explanation for the instructive field is that instructing is a respectable calling and as any innovation headway cannot supplant the educator, however, changes the instructing procedure. This part gives openings for work to real specialist help, dental hygienists and the therapeutic services for creatures is additionally expanding because of increment in pet animals which gives multiple chances to veterinary expert. Centre Management occupations are a standout amongst the most famous employments which are acquired in the business association. These employments are less in number, and they require various abilities that make the calling extreme, and numerous associations actualize these occupations, and they are not v ery many in number. Next profession that gives different employments is Business Service Jobs; these administration rules are new as they are new of the kind, the central point for increment in the employments as they give the obliged authorities to the clients and these employments are most pay areas in nations, for example, USA (Patton Creed 2007). Next career is sales employments these occupations are evergreen where each association requires these sorts of rules where sales employments give different callings, for instance, sales chief, Senior Sales Professional and Sales Executive. The sales roles are expanding as associations need to enhance the income and these employments can't have decay as the connection requires sales. Engineering occupations are a standout amongst the most earned employments in this decade. The field of engineering is right now raising, and these areas are giving multiple chances to the occupations, and they give different open doors, for example, Civil Engineer. Examining paid occupation A salesman is an individual who sells services and goods to other people and entities. How successful a salesperson will be is determined by many sales he makes in a given period and how good he is to persuade other people to buy the products. A salesman drives the company profit by selling goods and services to consumers (Boles et al., 2007). In most cases, the agents are the face of the business they work for as they interact directly with customers that are interested in the companys goods and services, so customer relation and service are usually paramount to salesman description of the job (Corcoran, Faggian McCann, 2010). As a qualified agent, it means that I have formally acquired some education in business studies. Many sales people are mostly employed by leading companies to make sure they help in selling goods and services. However, with the knowledge acquired in school a salesman is in a good position to open his own business or even link up with other like-minded people for business partnership. An agent is not limited just to one company; the most important skill required is the power to persuade other people to buy what he is selling (Douglas Shepherd, 2002). Being a salesman man comes with a lot of responsibilities. In an organization set up, salespeople are department heads, while others are group leaders. Activities will include a lot of traveling to meet new and old clients but the bottom line is to make sure that the company reaches its intended target. In most cases salespeople are the most overworked employees in any business and their work mostly takes place outside the firm. Not ever y person can qualify to be a salesman as it requires very high skills for one to be successful (Australia Graduate Careers, 2014). However, for one to become a competent salesperson education is paramount. One need to take a career in business studies and while there specialize in sales and this may take two to three years to complete. While in school it is advisable for the students to apply for internships in various companies to gain experience and skills. With that, the students will get enough confidence in the industry, and once they are done with education already, they have an idea of what is expected of them. Training is an essential exercise in every organization. It is one of the primary duties of the human resource department (Clarke, 2008). Therefore, the company has the mandate to make sure that newly appointed salespeople undergo rigorous training to help them understand the culture of the organization and what the company expects of them. The training can either be conducted by the enterprise itself or do what is called outside training. It involves also beach making where workers are taken for a n exchange program in another company. The skills and knowledge they get will be useful once they return to their place of work. In most cases, graduate salespeople earn a very decent salary which is around $60,000. It may not be six-figure, but as a way of motivation, most companies make sure they pay sellers good salaries. The starting salary may not be that high as expected, but usually, the income rises as one gains experience (Peir, Agut Grau, 2010). Salespeople are often overlooked in companies because of the nature of their job, but in real e sense, they are the face of the enterprise. Therefore, young people should venture in this field as the pay is right and becomes better with experience. The skills possessed by salesmen can be of great importance when it comes to other jobs. They can help one to get a job in other careers. For instance, salespeople need to be very aggressive, and this value can help one get a job somewhere else (Johlke, 2006). Interacting with people helps one to be more aware of what is happening, and in the process, they get many links where they can apply for other jobs. Salespeople are excellent managers. Therefore, the skills they have can help them get jobs as directors and human resource in high profile organizations. Business industry contributes a lot to the society. In most countries, employers play a significant role in the development of the country by paying taxes ("Beyond Graduation 2014: A r eport of graduates work and study outcomes three years after course completion, 2014). It does also provide by offering employment opportunities to many young people. Unemployment is one factor affecting many young people in both developed and underdeveloped countries. Therefore, the business community works hand in hand with the society to better the lives of the citizens. Regarding the economy, in my opinion, business field contribute a lot. As I said earlier, no country can do without investors whether local of foreign (Peir, Agut Grau, 2010). Examining unpaid occupation Australian Red Cross is an organization that is part of Red Cross Crescent Movement thats work to help millions of individuals all over the world. Being a non-profit organization Red Cross has for a long time helped for affected by disasters around the world. Australian Red Cross has many volunteers who contribute to reaching millions of people. Red Cross gives practical support whether its a personal failure or a natural disaster (Healy Lonne, 2010). In this organization, I would want to work for a service man to offer services to people in need. Being a volunteer in Australian Red Cross my job would be very simple and straight forward. In such a busy organization many activities take place. My primary job would be responding to emergencies together with other workers. Disasters like fire, floods as volunteers we have to be there and rescue the affected victims (Oppenheimer, 2017). In hunger stricken places as volunteers, the main work is to supply relief food and share it with the victims. Growing up as a young boy I have always had a soft heart for helping other people. Growing up I have seen people suffer not because of their fault but as a result of other people's mistakes, therefore have always wished to get a chance as a volunteer and help other people. Another reason is that working in such a big organization is a good thing career wise as they equip one with full experience. To work in this organization as a volunteer, one requires some education mostly starting with a diploma. Apart from doing some manual jobs the organizations still need the volunteers to be educated as they will be relating with people of different background. Once in the organization necessarily training will be conducted for new recruits to understand what they are expected of them. In this group, it's hard to get a paid position once you decide to volunteer. The reason for this is that Red Cross is a non-profit organization and therefore gets people on volunteer ship basis. Working with this team, it gives one good experience to work in other fields. Skills acquired here can help one work in non-governmental organizations that work to help the poor people. Red Cross has for many years helped a lot of individuals in the society in many ways such as supplying relief food in many countries in Africa. Any organization that works together with the government in most cases it contributes to the growth of the economy (Healy Lonne, 2010). What Happens to a Dream Deferred Essay Example For Students

What Happens to a Dream Deferred Essay As children we grow up having our ideal life set in our minds. We know what we would like to become and what we want to do when we grow up. Our dreams begin very simple and as time goes on, they converge and grow complex. Everyone, African-American or other-wise, strive to achieve their American Dream. We mature and recognize that things are not easy. Dreams are something that we all possess but the question, What happens to deferred dreams, comes into play when our dreams are not fulfilled. When we put our dreams on hold, what happens to them? Do we go back to our dreams and put them into action or do we let them sit in the sun and dry until they can no longer be used? People have been studying dreams for many centuries. Plato, a Greek philosopher viewed that dreams show a persons true nature. I feel that repression will not wholly be gone. The values and antics that people teach their children are passed down from generation to generation. You can not know what you have not been taught. Our dreams are derived from what we know or have heard. If I dream of one day becoming a great leader, it is because I have heard of someone once being a great leader and I am mimicking what I have seen our heard. Things like repression are passed down from generation to generation. It will take centuries for our society to really become blind to race. Many say that we have made significant progress, in this I agree, but I think have we really? When I can not get a job because my first name is Shanique, have we made progress? Because I can not get a job because my accent is that of a southern, have we really made progress? We will write a custom essay on What Happens to a Dream Deferred specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now Do you really think that we have made progress? Right now there is black on black crime because of materialistic things. Things that are ignorant and insignificant. Our brothers are shooting each other over a Grill, a piece of gold that will eventually rot the teeth. My sisters are stabbing each other over triffiling no good Negros that sleep with ever Tom, Dick and Harry and that are obviously not going any where with themselves and that talks to her like trash. My brothers are getting killed by the police because of stealing a pair of rims, to fit in with the crowd. We are seriously slipping on the Dream. Martin Luther Kings dream was not to have blacks killing each other for Grills or to have the White man shoot a young boy 17 times for dropping his wallet. His dream was for White man, Black Man, Jews and Gentiles to get along and be one and for America to be free at last. We blame our problems on Slavery and use it as a crutch, but the reality is that slavery is over; it is time for us to rise up as a nation, not as individuals, it is time for us to follow the dream, it is time for us to stop being ignorant and it is time for us to start treating each other as humans. Our media does not make our dreams and situations any better. When I turn on the television all I see is the negative. The media should try to report the positive every once in a while. It needs to stop bringing or brothers and sisters down, be it white or black. When someone lends a helping hand, we need to hear about that. When someone other than a Caucasian does something to help someone, it needs to be reported. They can leave out the Garbage portion of the news; we can do okay without it. There is an old saying that goes Garbage in, Garbage out changing this minute thing could change the whole country. We mimic what we see. Our dreams are based on what we see. .ub8ed2b30cc8caca0ca74205e4afb0fa5 , .ub8ed2b30cc8caca0ca74205e4afb0fa5 .postImageUrl , .ub8ed2b30cc8caca0ca74205e4afb0fa5 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .ub8ed2b30cc8caca0ca74205e4afb0fa5 , .ub8ed2b30cc8caca0ca74205e4afb0fa5:hover , .ub8ed2b30cc8caca0ca74205e4afb0fa5:visited , .ub8ed2b30cc8caca0ca74205e4afb0fa5:active { border:0!important; } .ub8ed2b30cc8caca0ca74205e4afb0fa5 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .ub8ed2b30cc8caca0ca74205e4afb0fa5 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .ub8ed2b30cc8caca0ca74205e4afb0fa5:active , .ub8ed2b30cc8caca0ca74205e4afb0fa5:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .ub8ed2b30cc8caca0ca74205e4afb0fa5 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .ub8ed2b30cc8caca0ca74205e4afb0fa5 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .ub8ed2b30cc8caca0ca74205e4afb0fa5 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .ub8ed2b30cc8caca0ca74205e4afb0fa5 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .ub8ed2b30cc8caca0ca74205e4afb0fa5:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .ub8ed2b30cc8caca0ca74205e4afb0fa5 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .ub8ed2b30cc8caca0ca74205e4afb0fa5 .ub8ed2b30cc8caca0ca74205e4afb0fa5-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .ub8ed2b30cc8caca0ca74205e4afb0fa5:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: A Comparison Of Biographic Features In The Sun Also Rises And The Great Gatsby EssayThe media plays a big role in everyones life. It can only help or hurt. If we change the medias dreary outlook on things, we may be taking that one step closer to the dream, and that one inch closer to the promise land. When we reach or dreams, we do not look back to try to help someone else achieve theirs, we move on and we become selfish and greedy. We think because we donate a little money to charity that we have done something. Have we ever thought about just randomly picking an underprivileged child and deciding to pay their full tuition to college? Our focus is in the wrong places, ou r priorities are messed up. Our President sends all that money to the same place he is killing. He bombs them and then turns around and sends them medical help. It is ignorant. Leave the other countries alone and tend to your home and help your own falling Country, our country is dieing. We have our own problems. We try to hide them, but they are their. We make all these dreams and promises and goals but in actuality they are deferred, they are set and made and then they sit in the sun and dry until they can no longer be used. We should not be afraid to follow our dreams. For a dream deferred is truly not a dream at all.
